2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV
As GM's newest electric truck, the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV turns the automaker's conventional truck design on its head. This brand-new truck has a unified bed and cab structure along with an independent rear suspension, all riding upon an electric-specific Ultimum platform. It also shares similarities with the now-defunct Chevrolet Avalanche, but the Silverado EV is more aerodynamic.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV is available in six trims: WT, LT, LTZ, Trail Boss, High Country, and RST. It's also offered in just the Crew Cab configuration. The bed length measures 5 feet, 11 inches, but opening the midgate extends the length to 10 feet, 10 inches. Unlike traditional pickup trucks that have separate bodies and beds, this one has a chassis built around the battery pack's structure. Its front end is noticeably shorter to maximize the driver's forward visibility and extend the legroom for those riding in the second row. The truck has a fixed-glass roof to increase headroom and enhance the feeling of spaciousness.
Engine (Power)
Power for the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV comes from one of two engine options. The standard engine receives 510 horsepower and 615 pound-feet of torque, while the two-engine option combined in the Wide Open Watts (WOW) mode receives up to 664 horsepower and 780 pound-feet of torque. All-wheel drive comes standard as well as a four-wheel steering system. Using a charging accessory cord, you can also access the Silverado EV's 10.2-kilowatt-hour system to charge another EV.
Performance
On a full charge, the truck has a maximum traveling distance of 450 miles according to estimates provided by the EPA. DC fast charging comes standard, and the automaker claims it takes just 10 minutes of charging at a public DC charging station to add 100 miles of range. Also, when properly equipped, the truck has a maximum towing capacity of 10,000 pounds and a payload capacity of 1,300 pounds. Use the integrated trailer brake controller along with the Tow/Haul mode and Chevy's Advanced Trailering System for the best trailering experience.
Interior
To improve the truck's rear seat spaciousness, the automaker moved the rear seat backward so that someone taller than 6 feet can ride comfortably. Its 60/40 split-folding seats allow you to easily grab items quickly from the front of the bed. The truck also has additional storage in the front-mounted trunk, or the "frunk," which can fit larger objects and has a 120-volt outlet.
To keep you and your travelers connected, the truck comes with an 11-inch touchscreen display for infotainment and an 8-inch digital display gauge. The upper trims have an even larger 17-inch infotainment display and an 11-inch gauge display. You can also access climate and audio controls via physical buttons and knobs underneath the display.
Safety Features
The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV is one of the first GM vehicles that recognizes its driver through an enabled device and turns itself on without any driver interaction. The top-of-the-line RST trim includes a towing-compatible version of the SuperCruise hands-free driving assistance technology that you can activate on thousands of highways across North America.
